Location: Redmond, WA

About Our Client

Our client, a leader in commercial real estate, is seeking a skilled Building Engineer to join their team in Redmond, WA . The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC operations, and control room monitoring in high-stakes environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Systems Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor, document, and remotely troubleshoot industrial instrumentation and building automation systems.
  • Remote Support: Act as a central point of contact for technicians onsite; respond to alarms and coordinate actions for HVAC and mechanical issues.
  • Alarm Response & Escalation: Respond to critical alerts such as overheating labs, fire alarms, and low oxygen levels. Escalate and manage events according to protocol.
  • Performance Analysis: Interpret system performance reports and optimize operations for efficiency and energy savings.
  • Team Support & Training: Support mechanical engineers in system repairs and train technicians on control system operations.
  • Technical Setup: Configure and troubleshoot Microsoft OS and Microsoft 365 environments for system monitoring.

Qualifications

Must Have Skills

  • Mechanical understanding of equipment: Chillers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, Air Handling Units (AHUs), Terminal Cooling Units.
  • Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics and heat transfer principles.
  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot systems in critical environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).
  • Experience with escalation protocols and emergency event management.
  • Familiarity with energy conservation strategies and best practices.
  • Ability to interpret complex system reports and identify performance improvements.
  • Experience supporting and training mechanical technicians on system controls.

Experience

  • 4–5 years of relevant job experience in building systems operations, critical infrastructure, or control room environments.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)

Work Environment

  • This is a hybrid technical operations role beginning onsite and shifting to remote work.
  • The role is similar to a call center environment where the engineer manages real-time alarms, system monitoring, and technician communication.
  • Requires high attention to detail, quick decision-making in escalated events, and the ability to support engineering teams remotely.
