Job Details:

• Work 3x12 hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
\n• 13-week assignment duration
\n• Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
\n• Currently maintaining 1:5 patient ratios (goal is 1:4)
\n• Float as needed to other PCU units and potentially Med Surg
\n• Care for adult and geriatric patients on hospitalist service with pulmonary and medical illnesses
\n• Manage patients with chest tubes, IV drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low dose dopamine and dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro), tracheostomies, PICC lines, and oxygen modes including CPAP and BiPAP
\n• Work with telemetry monitoring (remote telemetry with monitors remaining on unit)
\n• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
\n• Epic experience required
\n• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
\n• Skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, cardiac drip management, telemetry, PCU/stepdown experience
\n• 32 hours of orientation provided
\n• Required to work at least 1 holiday per 13-week assignment (2 holidays during winter season)
\n• Self-scheduling system
\n• Daily census of 20 patients in 20-bed unit with 2 ventilator-capable beds for chronic trach patients

This healthcare facility features a 20-bed telemetry PCU that specializes in caring for patients on the hospitalist service with pulmonary and other medicine-related illnesses. The unit serves as an alternate location for renal and other medical patients and maintains two ventilator-capable beds for chronic tracheostomy patients. The facility offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and various diagnostic services. The organization has implemented advanced technology including remote telemetry monitoring and tele-sitting capabilities to enhance patient care and safety.
