American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a busy P4 Trauma Center, requiring WV or compact RN licensure and critical care certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Position is in the Emergency Department of an acute care setting
  • P4 Trauma Center with 28 beds, including 2 designated Trauma/Code rooms
  • Manages diverse cases including trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, overdose, and all age groups from infants to geriatrics
  • Patient ratio is typically 1 nurse to 4 patients
  • Uses Epic EMR system; experience with Epic preferred
  • Three 12-hour night shifts per week with every other weekend and rotational holidays
  • Fast track, triage, and psych/seclusion rooms available
  • No on-call or floating required
  • Bedside cardiac monitoring with RNs responsible for reading strips; no monitor tech
  • CPAP, BiPAP, mechanical ventilation, and critical drip management utilized
  • Duties include triage, patient care across all acuities, and management of ER holds as needed
  • Team includes charge nurse (no patient load), ER techs for technical support, and 24/7 in-house security
  • RT available 24/7 for respiratory support but shared among units
  • Solid navy scrubs required; no patterns or embroidery, closed-toed shoes only
  • Standard orientation includes two 12-hour shifts with a preceptor and computer training
  • First-day general orientation and department-specific nursing orientation provided
  • Assignment not open to local candidates living within 50 miles, and previous employees must have a 2-year break from any WVU Medicine location for eligibility
  • Holiday rotation is shared with core staff

  • Active WV or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department experience required
  • Certifications in BLS (AHA), ACLS, PALS, and TNCC required
  • Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias, ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and administration of critical drips necessary
  • Ability to draw radial ABGs is required
