Head of Investor Relations / Fundraising Manager | US-Based Client (Los Angeles)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Head of Investor Relations / Fundraising Manager to lead our funding efforts and manage strategic investor relationships. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of raising funds, experience in investor relations, and strong expertise in financial modeling, deal structuring, cap table management, and familiarity with tools like Carta to support our startup’s growth.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Financial Modeling: Develop detailed financial models to demonstrate the startup’s potential, valuation, and funding needs.
• Due Diligence: Coordinate and oversee the due diligence process, verifying key information to ensure transparency and readiness for investment.
• Investor Outreach: Identify, connect, and cultivate relationships with potential investors, including angels, venture capitalists, and institutional investors.
• Negotiation: Assist in negotiating investment terms and closing deals that align with the company's strategic goals.
• Deal Structuring: Support in structuring investment deals, including equity, debt, or hybrid arrangements.
• Cap Table Management & Dilution: Handle cap table management, ensure accurate tracking of ownership stakes, and advise on dilution impacts during funding rounds.
• Tools & Software Knowledge: Proficient in using Carta or equivalent equity management and cap table software.
• Post-Deal Support: Maintain ongoing relationships with investors, provide regular updates, and manage investor reporting.
• Fundraising Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies in line with company objectives.
• Pitch Preparation: Prepare compelling pitch decks, proposals, and investor presentations.
• Investor Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for investors, ensuring transparent communication and engagement.
• Funding Sources: Explore and leverage various funding avenues such as grants, crowdfunding, and strategic partnerships.
• Progress Tracking: Monitor and report on fundraising progress, pipeline, and investor engagement activities.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in fundraising, investor relations, or business development, especially in startups or early-stage companies.
• Demonstrated success in raising funds from multiple sources.
• Preferably CFA Charter holder or equivalent financial certification.
• Strong experience in financial modeling, valuation, deal structuring, and cap table management.
• Experience with Carta or similar equity management tools.
• Prior experience in investment banking, corporate finance, or financial consulting is highly desirable.
• Existing network of investors and strategic partners.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently, proactively, and manage multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of the startup funding landscape, regulations, and best practices.

Salary Range:

• $150,000 – $250,000 USD annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
