The Engineer III is an essential part of BD’s Digital Engineering (DE) 3D Printing & Prototyping team and will have the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of BD’s next generation medical products and enhance the current product portfolio. Under the general direction of 3D Printing & Prototyping management, will apply 3D printing technologies to evaluate product designs and optimize product functionality while actively using research and develop advanced techniques and best practices. Responsibilities include operating 3D printers such as Stereolithography, Carbon DLS, Polyjet, DMLM, analyzing and processing machine accuracy data to improve performance, providing engineering support and process flow development for 3D printing technology, leading teams as needed, interacting with product development engineers to optimize machine performance and parts, researching and implementing new technologies and best practices, scheduling and coordinating 3D printing machines, maintaining competencies through training, performing routine maintenance, utilizing engineering tools like Pro Engineer and Solidworks to develop prototyping solutions, and contributing to broader CAE group activities to optimize part quality and manufacturability. Qualifications include a minimum B.S. in Engineering, Mathematics, Metrology or equivalent, at least 3 years of 3D printing industry experience, hands-on experience with 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks or Pro/E), strong teamwork and communication skills, and preferably medical industry experience. The role requires thorough, accurate, and timely completion of responsibilities, adherence to BD policies and laws, effective communication, independent work with strong drive for results, and managing assignments according to project prioritization. BD prioritizes on-site collaboration with a minimum of 4 days in-office per week for most roles to foster creativity and innovation.
