Job Description

About FieldWrk and our mission:

FieldWrk is a branding and marketing agency dedicated to serving the essential industries that build and support our society. We exist to help hardworking people and companies reach their full potential.

Partnering with companies in civil construction, design, engineering, waste management, energy infrastructure, mining, and other markets, we help our clients stand out and scale their business through branding, storytelling, and marketing that doesn’t just look good, but actually wrks.

How you’ll help us in your role:

We are looking for an experienced Copywriter to join our creative team. As a Copywriter at FieldWrk, you'll craft and refine our clients' brand voices, market positions, and messaging — helping them stand out, attract new business and recruitment leads, and define their internal cultures.

That process starts with you helping facilitate in-person brand workshops with clients, key stakeholders, and other members of our creative team (don't worry — we'll teach you our process, and you'll shadow the first few) . Traveling overnight to locations across the U.S. (averaging roughly 3-6 days per month) , you’ll dive deep into our clients’ cultures and the specific challenges they face to form the creative strategy and direction for building the brand. You’ll then be responsible for executing that strategy by writing clear, impactful, brand-centric copy across multiple mediums that speak directly to the clients’ target audiences.

The copywriting team is tight-knit, and our process is highly collaborative. We review content, pass projects back and forth, and support one another’s work. Under the guidance of the Associate Creative Director and Senior Copywriter, you'll collaborate closely with our team of creative and art directors, designers, photographers, and videographers to produce content that serves our clients’ goals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Help lead and facilitate in-person client workshops and presentations to refine brand direction, messaging, and strategy
  • Develop and write brand identities for multiple clients to provide a framework for all brand messaging and communications
  • Collaborate with the Creative Team (Creative Director, Senior Copywriter, Art Director, UX Designer) to review and ensure quality and accuracy of all branded copy deliverables
  • Concept, develop, and execute copy for a variety of platforms including digital, print, social media, and video to meet client objectives
  • Present, explain, and defend copy concepts to creative teams and clients
  • Participate in collaborative brainstorming sessions to generate ideas and creative concepts
  • Conduct research to gain branding insights and understand client industries, target audiences, and competitor activities
  • Stay current on client industries, target audiences, and competitors to serve as a subject matter expert
  • Develop user-focused web content and SEO-informed copy for websites and landing pages in collaboration with brand and marketing strategists

Copywriting deliverables you are responsible for include, but are not limited to:

  • Verbal Brand Identity (mission, approach, and offering statements; company values; unique value propositions; customer personas and market messaging)
  • Campaign Messaging
  • Website Copy
  • Print Assets Copy
  • Video Scripts
  • Blog Articles

Requirements

The right copywriter for this role has:

  • Minimum 3+ years of proven copywriting experience in crafting strategic brand messaging and marketing copy, preferably in an agency setting
  • Confidence in client communication, including the ability to help guide discussions and decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with trades/construction industries—or a clear hunger to learn them inside-out.
  • An active and empathic listen-first mindset
  • Comfort with a cooperative, iterative content creation process
  • Appreciation for the relationship between copy and design, with an eagerness to collaborate and give/receive feedback with grace
  • Strong desire to make a positive impact through writing and for hardworking industries
  • Ability to travel 3-6 days per month, on average
  • Comfort working within CST hours (9 AM-5 PM CT)

From a cultural perspective, a great candidate is:

  • People-first: Collaborative, kind, and clear.
  • Self-starter: Highly disciplined and self-motivated.
  • Scrappy and curious: You find a way and iterate often.
  • Detail-obsessed: You care about both the story and the punctuation.
  • Brave and humble: Willing to push, but always eager to learn.

AI Note* AI is a great tool that can help structure thoughts, and we know it can provide complete responses to job postings. For this application, your final submission must written in your own words and voice.
