Job Description

Job Summary

The Controller will be responsible for certain Accounting and Billing and Collections functions of the Company, along with analyses, financial planning & various other duties. This role will be cross functional within the Financial Department, working closely with the CFO, as well as Regional Management.

Primary Job Duties

  Accounting Duties

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting packages to include regional financial statements and external financial reporting.
  • Responsible for company-wide financial statement preparation.
  • Manage the month-end close to meet the Company deadline.
  • Analyze accounting records to assess accuracy, completeness and compliance with standards defined within the department and GAAP.
  • Perform variance analysis on Balance Sheet and P&L accounts, communicating results to senior management.
  • Maintains balance sheet Reconciliations.
  • Prepares accounting estimates and maintains records of these estimates.
  • Assist in maintaining perpetual inventory.
  • Supports internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules and answering auditor questions.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

  Financial Planning Duties

  • Assists in preparation of the company’s weekly operational and cash forecasts.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining budget monitoring processes and models.
  • Assists departments/regions in the preparation of department/region budgets.
  • Create charts and graphs using computer technology.
  • Assists in performing financial analysis and reporting of expense and balance sheet accounts.
  • Assists in preparing analysis of spending by department or region.
  • Assists in analyzing actual labor, material, and overhead cost against budget. Researches and explains variances.
  • Assists in generating and managing labor costing process.
  • Manage the Billing process to assure accuracy and timelyness.
  • Prepare reconciliations of Billing to supporting tickets.
  • Monitor submission of invoices to customers’ electronic systems along with backup detail.
  • Research customer disputes and resolve timely.
  • Monitor sales taxes charged to determine accuracy.
  • Monitor accounts receivable agings to identify late payments.
  • Contact late paying customers to bring accounts current.
  • Comply with Collection Policies and Procedures of Bosque Disposal Systems.

  Billing and Collection Duties

  IT Duties  

  • Participate in setting an IT plan. 

Required Competencies / Prerequisites  

  • College Degree in Accounting
  • 5 to 7 years work experience including public accounting experience a plus.
  • CPA certification already attained or currently preparing for the CPA exam and meeting all such educational requirements.
  • Managerial Accounting skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong internal control and process knowledge.
  • Performs all work with a high sense for accuracy.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including MS Excel.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks required.
  • Strong skills in database report writing software, such as MS Access and SSRS.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Physical Requirements  

  • Office environment with desk at corporate office.
  • Occasional Regional visits that may require light and walking the yard.
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required and must be worn when on yards & jobsite locations:
  • Safety Glasses, Hard hats, FR Clothing and other as required by customer.
  • Light to moderate physical effort required.
  • Regularly required to walk, reach, and move about the facility.
  • Able to work around hazardous chemicals and in Oil & Gas Operational conditions.
  • Ability to be present at field office during denoted work hours, which may be altered occasionally.
  • Ability to read, communicate verbally and/or in written form, remember and analyze certain information, instructions, and guidelines.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
