Our high-quality arts programs are accessible to all children regardless of income or background as our goal is to set students up for success in life artistically, academically, and socially. Founded in 2004, the Arts & Learning Conservatory (ALC) has reached over 30,000 children across numerous campuses throughout Southern California. 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

 

The Chief Programs Officer (CPO) will be responsible for overseeing the operational success of all programs at the Arts & Learning Conservatory. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in both education and operations. The ideal candidate will have experience leading teams, developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs), overseeing budgets, and driving key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the effectiveness of our programs. This position requires a strong administrative skill set, including the ability to manage complex logistics, coordinate multiple projects, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Additionally, the CPO will be responsible for building strong teams that allow the CEO to step away from daily operations and focus on advancing the organization’s mission.

 

 

 

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 
Program Oversight & Implementation


 

  • Ensure efficient and effective operations of all ALC arts and education programs.
  • Develop and oversee the operational structure of all performing arts programs, including technical theatre, in-school programs, workshops, and theatre.
  • Work closely with faculty, guest artists, and administrative staff to ensure successful implementation of curriculum and artistic programming.
  • Develop and implement SOPs to standardize and improve program delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate program performance through KPIs, ensuring continuous improvement. 

People Management

 

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of program staff and instructors.
  • Recruit, onboard, and support administrative and teaching artists, ensuring alignment with the Conservatory’s mission and values.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Provide staff development leadership ensuring staff training and professional development align with organizational goals. 

Operational Leadership, Efficiency, and Compliance

 

  • Streamline and maintain administrative and operational processes to support program excellence and enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and educational standards.
  • Oversee logistical aspects of program execution, including scheduling and facility usage.
  • Oversee program calendars, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and avoiding schedule conflicts.
  • Evaluate and enhance technology integration for program management including learning management systems and registration platforms.

Budget & Financial Oversight

 

  • Develop, manage, and monitor program budgets to align with financial goals.
  • Optimize resource allocation to maximize program impact and sustainability.
  • Work closely with the CEO and finance team to manage contracts and payroll logistics.
  • Work closely with the CEO and finance team to track expenditure and revenue.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

 

  • Collaborate with school partners, community organizations, and funders to support program success.
  • Provide regular reports to the CEO on program impact, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Represent the organization at events, meetings, and conferences as needed. 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in program administration, operations, or leadership preferably in education, arts, or nonprofit sectors.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement SOPs and track KPIs.
  • Budget management experience with a focus on financial stewardship.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of production processes preferred.
  • Passion for arts education and youth development.

Physical Requirements: 

 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Must be able to lift to fifteen pounds at times. 

 

Environmental Conditions  

Office, theatre, classroom and studio environments.
